Shim Jaehyun, best known as Jaehyun and the youngest member of K-pop boy group F.ABLE has died at the age of 23 after a private battle with leukemia. His passing, which occurred on June 29, 2025, was confirmed by acquaintances and former colleagues, leaving fans and the K-pop community in shock and mourning.

Jaehyun’s struggle with leukemia was not publicly known during his lifetime. He chose to keep his diagnosis and treatment private, and many fans only learned of his illness after his death. Details about the duration of his illness and the specifics of his treatment remain undisclosed.

Born on April 7, 2002, in Seoul, Jaehyun debuted as the vocalist and maknae (youngest member) of F.ABLE in June 2020 under Haeirum Entertainment. The group, which also included members Hojun, Sihoon, Junhyoung, and Jeong, was known for its close-knit dynamic and heartfelt performances, despite not achieving mainstream K-pop stardom. F.ABLE released several digital singles, including “Burn It Up” and “Run Run Run,” and built a dedicated fanbase that appreciated their sincerity and warmth.

F.ABLE became inactive around mid-2023, and while there was no formal announcement of disbandment, three members later re-debuted in a new group called ENPHAZE. Jaehyun did not participate in this new project, and his absence from the public eye raised questions among fans, who were unaware of his health struggles.

The news of Jaehyun’s death prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and former group members. Hojun, a former F.ABLE bandmate, posted an emotional tribute on social media, expressing regret for not being there during Jaehyun’s final days and gratitude for the years they shared together:

“Jae Hyun, I heard the news too late… I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there for your last journey. I sometimes think about how I could have done better, and it’s regretful. I hope you can shake off all your worries and live comfortably there. Thank you for the past five years. I hope you’re eating lots of delicious food and doing well there. Come visit me in my dreams.”

Fans have also taken to social media to mourn the loss, sharing memories of Jaehyun’s gentle personality, bright energy, and the comfort he brought to those around him. As of now, details about his funeral or memorial arrangements have not been made public.

Jaehyun’s passing has left a deep impact on those who followed his journey, both for the loss of a young life and for the quiet, dignified way he faced his illness. He is remembered as a passionate performer and a kind soul, whose brief time in the spotlight touched many.
